PWRT (The Psychoeconomy War Room Table)
Interactive installation. Tangible table, fiducials.
2011

CONCEPT
The PWRT is built on the metaphor of the plotting table of the War or Situation Rooms, the place where possible tactical moves during a civil or military operation are discussed. Based on a tangible table, reacTIVision and fiducials, the system allows the users to place different flags on the stage of the global economy and to visualize the relationships between these countries in terms of some specific social and economic variables. The used data are those provided by the World Bank the UN, the IMF, and the CIA through their websites.

HOW IT WORKS
Users can place on the stage of the global economy different flags and visualize  the relationships between these countries.
A Data Filter will allow you to compare the selected data (population, surface area, GDP per capita , external debt and central bank reserves ), while a Time Flter will change the scene with the data of the last ten years.

TECHNOLOGY
PWRT  uses a tangible table, and a software in processing that detects the use of reacTIVision fiducials .

CURRENT STATUS AND   FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS

The current prototype supports the display of social and economic data between twenty countries.
The project involves the inclusion of a greater number of countries, transnational organizations, data from the past 50 years and the addition of new filters that will handle new variables such as flows of assets (goods and financial capital), human flows (migration, tourism, movement of troops),energy flows (fuel and food), information flows (exports and import of audiovisual media content).

The table was developed in Medialab Prado (Madrid) forVisualizar'11.
